Tell all Tuesday Revealed!

Okay, I know I was supposed to post this on Friday, however life got in my way. I will spare you all the details but I do apologize!   So let's get to the three "facts".

#3 is definitely a fact... I do love me some Redlegs baseball. My hubby and I take our kids to games every chance we get!

For those of you who thought fact number 2 was a lie.. Sorry! I do have 7 siblings. I have one older brother and six younger brothers and sisters.

Therefore "fact" #1 is my lie. I was not born in South Dakota. I was however, born in North Dakota. I am what some call a "military brat". I also lived overseas when I was younger as well.

Thanks again for reading and commenting on my Tell All Tuesday post! Once again I apologize for posting my reveal a little late!!

Tell All Tuesday..Two Truths and A Lie

Thanks for taking a minute to read my latest post!!!  I am enjoying my summer break at home with my 3 boys.  Jonah is 4 years old, Eli is 2 years old, and Simon is 7 months old.  So, let's just say I am having a fun, but exhausting summer break!  I have taught 4th grade for the last two years.  This year I will be making the move to third grade.  Although I am very excited, I am also nervous!! Wish me luck!

When I decided to join in on this "Linky," I thought, how hard can it be to come up with two truths and a lie about myself????  Then I got to thinking... I am a terrible liar!!!  For example, when it comes to gift giving, it is better to keep me in the dark. I cannot keep a "lie" face to save my life.  So anyways, here goes nothing, here are my 3 "facts"

1.  I was born in South Dakota
2. I have 7 siblings
3. I love Cincinnati Reds baseball

Only two of the "facts" are actual facts....Leave a comment below and let me know which ones you think are true, and which one you think is a lie.  I will let you know on Thursday which one is which.

During these next three days, I will be having a buy one get one free sale in my TPT store.  Simply. purchase your product from my store, then, send me a Facebook message with the the name of the purchased product, your "buyer" name (TPT name), and what product (equal or lesser value) you would like for free. Fractional Mistake???

Have you ever been in your classroom and decide last minute you want to change something??  Duh, your a teacher, of course you have!! Well, that was me a few weeks ago when my students were learning how to decompose fractions.   I got the bulk of my "planned" lesson done, which went as I had planned for it to, but afterwards, I could tell my students were left wanting more.  Not as in a "OOOHHH we love decomposing fractions!" or even "Let's do that again!"  It was more of a "Seriously, That's all we get?" type of wanting. So I thought, "Ok Court, you can do better than this..THINK!!"  So, while the students were working, I quickly scribbled down a scavenger hunt that my students could do with some cards that I made for my Decomposing Fractions War Game. I made copies in record time and allowed my students time to complete the scavenger hunt.

As you can see the "hunt" page was literally made by scribbling down clues, but what I found more interesting is that the kids didn't mind one bit.  They loved doing the scavenger hunt.  I was most proud of not only creating a scavenger hunt, but creating a scavenger hunt that also includes a MYSTERY PHRASE!! Decomposing fractions became a big hit in my classroom on the day of the scavenger hunt.  It was right up there with the day that I introduced decomposing fractions by comparing decomposing fractions to what happens to a dead animal on the road..Gross, I know but hey, they both break down!
Mistake some might ask?? No, I would like to think of it as teaching creatively at its finest....OK not really, I am not creative. How about flying by the seat of my pants, and happened to get lucky?! Yes, that's more like it!!

It has been a couple weeks since my students completed this activity and it has taken me that long to re-create it in a more appealing way.  Crazy to think that in my hurry of making this activity I found some mistakes in it while the students were completing the "hunt."
So anyways, I would like to present to you, my new and improved edition of Decomposing Fractions Scavenger Hunt.
P.S. It also has a "Printer-Friendly" version as well.

Back In The Saddle Again.......

I'm back!!  I have been on a brief hiatus because on Oct. 31st  I welcomed my baby boy into the world.  He was 8 lbs 10 oz. and one of the three sweetest babies I have ever known!!
My three babies!!! Big brothers (Jonah- almost 4 years old and Eli- 2 1/2 years old) are wearing their oompa-loompa Halloween costumes. They came to see us before they went trick-or-treating!

I swore to myself that while I was on maternity leave I would work to make my blog better and work on TPT's products...... Yeah, that didn't happen.  Not only did it not happen, I didn't even log on to my blog or TPT!! I am terrible.  I guess I can say that with having, my now, THREE boys at home all aged 3 and under, I was a little busy!!

Anyways... I just wanted to let everyone know that I am here and ready to get back to work!!! Feel free to check out my TPT store where everything is buy one get one FREE until Sunday 1-11-15 at 11:59 pm EST (equal or lesser value).  Simply E-mail me at ckreutzjans@jcsc.org once you have purchased one product, let me know what your TPT username is and the product that you would like for free along with your e-mail for me to send your free product.   Happy Friday!!
